Coach Caio Júnior organized a collective training session this afternoon in Gávea, preparing the red-and-black team for Saturday's difficult match against São Paulo at Maracanã. With an eye on the opposing team, the manager cited some of the São Paulo team's strengths.

"For me, São Paulo is a contender for the Brazilian title. I consider Muricy Ramalho the best coach in Brazil right now. They have a highly qualified squad. Hernanes won't play, but Richarlyson or Zé Luis, for example, will come in. Up front, Adriano is out, but they have Borges and Aloísio."

For Caio Júnior, the São Paulo team hasn't changed much compared to last year, when they won the Brazilian Championship.

"São Paulo has the same core. They have three tall defenders at the back, with Rogério Ceni in goal. The rest of the team is very strong, with experienced players. They operate in practically the same way, exploiting aerial plays. They're a technically sound team, but also very strong physically."

The coach once again reminded everyone of the importance of winning home games in the national championship.

"It's a six-point game. Since they're a title contender, it's very important to win. If we win, we'll open up a 10-point lead over them."

Caio Júnior confirmed the return of Diego Tardelli in Maxi's place. Cristian and Jônatas are competing for a spot in midfield.

"The team is more or less the same as the one that trained today. I don't want to change the base too much. Diego Tardelli returns to the team in Maxi's place. I'm unsure about whether to play Jônatas or Cristian. I'll only announce the lineup before the match."
