With yesterday's victory over Botafogo, Flamengo reached 60 points in the Brazilian Championship and remained in contention for the title and a spot in the 2008 Copa Libertadores. With four games remaining in the competition, Flamengo faces Palmeiras on Sunday at the Maracanã, a match that could put Flamengo back in the top four. Coach Caio Júnior is aware of the difficulties of facing Vanderlei Luxemburgo's team, but is confident the Gávea team will perform well.

"Palmeiras lost at home, but they're still one of the favorites for the title, having been on a good run. But our team has what it takes to win. I saw a balanced team throughout the match against Botafogo. Now it's the championship final week. We have to prepare for it, like a real final."

The red-black commander counts on the support of the red-black fans next Sunday.

"I know the fans have had some frustrations with some decisions, with important games, but we'll need them. The fans need to come prepared for a very difficult game, but we have every chance of winning."

Caio Júnior praised the performance of the duo Juan and Sambueza in yesterday's match. According to the coach, the Argentine midfielder's introduction allowed the full-back to participate more in the match. Kleberson, Josiel, and Fierro also received praise.

"I thought Sambueza's performance was very good. He made Juan play, he made the team play. This partnership was important. Anyone who doesn't watch training can't understand how much I know about my players. I'm trying to find the ideal formation. Furthermore, the strength of our bench is important. All the players who came on in the second half performed very well," said the coach.
