Calibrating the gun for Saturday's match

Renato will train finishing to calibrate his left leg for a possible debut against Ceará

While Renato isn't yet 100% physically, and Flamengo's new number 11 still lacks some match fitness, the midfielder promises to make up for it with his determination and dedication on the field. With coach Rogério Lourenço counting on him for Saturday's (August 14.08) match against Ceará at Maracanã, he knows the responsibility he will have in his reunion with the fans and guarantees he's already calibrating his left foot for the traditional long-range shots that the fans became accustomed to seeing during his first stint at Gávea.

"I'm sharpening it (laughs). I'll work on finishing during the week. As I said, I haven't worked with the ball for a while, I'm back now with this return to Flamengo and I believe that little by little I'll be getting my foot in shape," he said.

The midfielder played almost the entire Flamengo training match against Bangu on Tuesday (August 10.08) and felt good while on the field. Despite his lack of rhythm, the midfielder believes he is improving and has time until Saturday to improve even further.

\

"I felt a bit out of rhythm. Sometimes you lose track of space, which is normal, since I hadn't been working with the ball in a while. I worked a lot on my fitness, but not on my technique. But I believe that overall I did well and I'm improving as the training goes on. We have three more days until Saturday's game and I hope to be available for Rogério, even if maybe not to start the game," he said.

Knowing that fans expect great football, Renato believes he can help Flamengo with his dedication and quality in creating plays.

\

"I know the responsibility I have and the trust they place in me, but at Flamengo, everyone always has a great responsibility. I have some experience here and I hope to contribute with my dynamics, my passing, and playmaking. Everyone has their role, but the important thing is that everyone is healthy, in sync, and giving their all for the team," said the player, who can't wait to see the Maracanã and the Red-Black Nation again.

\

"Expectations are high. The fans are very fond of me, and I am also very fond of the fans. It will certainly be great to see the red-and-blacks again at Maracanã. I can't promise titles, because that depends on many things, but I can promise a lot of determination and dedication on the field at all times. I'm here to give my all and try to help Flamengo achieve its goals," he concluded.

Renato returned to Flamengo in the second half of 2010 after having already played 128 matches and scored 46 goals, in addition to having won a Copa do Brasil and a Campeonato Carioca, between 2005 and 2007.
