Another signing confirmed at Mengão! It's midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, who was at Southampton in England. The 21-year-old Argentine signed a contract with Mais Querido this Wednesday (28), valid until August 2029, and arrives to further qualify the red-black squad in the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores.

Alcaraz came through the youth ranks of Racing Club in Argentina and made his professional debut in January 2020. Two years later, he scored the winning goal in the 2022 Copa Argentina final against Boca Juniors in extra time.

His performance in Argentine football caught the attention of Southampton, who signed the midfielder in early 2023. For the English club, he made 48 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing five assists. In the first half of this year, he was loaned to Juventus in Italy.

In October last year, the midfielder was called up for the first time to the Argentine national team that faced Paraguay and Peru in the World Cup qualifiers.
