Flamengo beat Boavista 3-0 on Wednesday night (7) and remains top of its group in the Taça Rio, the second round of the Campeonato Carioca. After the match, coach Paulo César Carpegiani commented on the match at Raulino de Oliveira, in Volta Redonda, which marked Julio Cesar's return to the Mais Querido.

"This is a project between Julio Cesar and the board because of everything he represents. It's a fundamental legacy, especially for the guys in the locker room. It's really worth having him here. The important thing was Julio's presence because of everything he represents to world football. In the second half, he was calm and that was important," Carpegiani assessed.

Flamengo's next match will be on Saturday (10), at 19:30 pm, at the Cláudio Moacyr de Azevedo Stadium, known as Moacyrzão.

We faced a very defensive team, which occasionally counterattacked. We proved to be a confident team. Perhaps we lacked acceleration and initiative, things we discussed at halftime and were able to improve. The game began to ease when we broke the 0-0 deadlock and started chasing the result. This made the difference between the first and second half.

We have this, this set piece, which is very powerful. Today we also made a beautiful corner kick. As the players play, it's natural for them to feel more comfortable. In the second half, the full-backs, especially, showed more initiative and knew how to go after the ball more. When you build this kind of team, you need that.
