Flamengo beat Grêmio 1-0, this Sunday on Mother's Day (10), at Arena do Grêmio, for the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. In a performance of ample territorial dominance and control of possession, Rubro-Negro built the victory with a goal from Jorge Carrascal in the second half and reached 30 points in the table, maintaining the pursuit of the leader Palmeiras.

The team managed by Leonardo Jardim was superior for practically the entire match, pressing high, making it difficult for Grêmio to build attacks, and creating the main chances of the game. The team also hit the woodwork twice and forced some great saves from goalkeeper Weverton, one of the standout players for the opposing team that night in Porto Alegre.

O JOGO

Flamengo started the match dominating the attacking half and creating chances in the opening minutes. Plata, one of the most active players in the first half, hit the crossbar in the fourth minute after a good play down the right flank. Shortly after, Carrascal also struck the post with a first-time shot following a collective build-up.

With a high, well-organized defensive block and constant pressure on the ball's exit, Flamengo dictated the pace of the game and finished the first half with a clear advantage in possession and attacking volume. On the other side, the team from Rio Grande do Sul struggled to play out from the back and relied on long balls and quick transitions.

After the break, the pattern remained the same. Flamengo continued exchanging passes in the attacking half and circling the Grêmio penalty area until opening the scoring in the 23rd minute. Following a great long pass from Léo Ortiz, Emerson Royal appeared almost on the byline inside the area and crossed the ball back first-time. The ball found Carrascal, who also finished first-time without letting the ball bounce, scoring the winning goal for Flamengo: 1-0.

Even after taking the lead, Flamengo maintained control of the game and even created opportunities to extend their lead with Bruno Henrique, De La Cruz, and Luiz Araújo following the changes made by Leonardo Jardim.

The performance in the South was yet another demonstration of the model implemented by Leonardo Jardim. Flamengo finished the match with 68% possession: the team's highest percentage since the coach's arrival, in addition to maintaining a high volume of attacking play and a constant presence in the attacking third throughout the 90 minutes.

With this result, Flamengo extends its recent positive record against Grêmio, maintains its good run in the Brazilian Championship, and continues with impressive numbers in the "Leonardo Jardim Era".
