"Centenary," Willians says he wants to stay at Flamengo for a long time.
Midfielder celebrates milestone and admits he underperformed against Corinthians at Engenhão.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inWillians' nickname among Flamengo players is "Little Devil." Perhaps because of his resemblance to Edilson, a former striker who played for the club in the early 2000s. But that's how the midfielder should be called at other clubs too. After all, he torments opposing attacks with his speed, tackles, and relentless marking. Currently the best ball-winner in Brazilian football, the player has established himself in the Flamengo team since his signing in 2009 and has already reached his 100th match wearing the sacred jersey.

At 24 years old, Willians arrived at Gávea under suspicious glances, coming from Santo André and snubbing offers from other big clubs to defend Flamengo. The marriage was perfect: he won over the fans, won two titles (Carioca and Brazilian) and became a reference point. About to reach this historic milestone, the midfielder recalls the moments he has lived so far and hopes to still bring much joy to the Nation, which welcomed him so well.

"This is my 100th game and I'm very happy. I hope to stay at Flamengo much longer and win many titles, just like last year," he said.

With his name constantly linked to potential call-ups to the Brazilian national team and transfers abroad, Willians says he's calm about his future. Wanting to take things one step at a time, he states that, at the moment, he's only focused on helping Flamengo reach the Copa Sudamericana next season.
"2011 will be even better, for sure. Now we have to fight to achieve new results and keep trying for more victories," observed the midfielder, who explained the conversations with Vanderlei Luxemburgo after the game against Corinthians.
"I played badly in the match, really. It was one of my worst games for Flamengo. I know my role is to win the ball back and help in the build-up play, with quality. I spoke with coach Vanderlei and everything is fine. I'm very happy. I wasn't upset about being substituted. Vanderlei is a great coach," he added.
