Zé Roberto, the main signing for the 2009 season, exuded confidence on his first day as a Flamengo player. Before donning the number 10 jersey that once belonged to Zico, which, for him, increases his responsibility even further, the midfielder didn't hide his satisfaction at being able to play for his beloved club and outlined the goals he intends to achieve in his new professional career.

"I was in Salvador, and people were asking me if it was really true that I was going to Flamengo. I know how great Flamengo is, and I'm very happy to be here. I want to help the team with my talent and determination and make history for the club," said Zé Roberto, making clear another personal project. "I'm now starting my big professional project, which is to compete in the 2010 World Cup. I'll achieve it, and 2009 will be my big year," he promised.

At 28, Zé Roberto wants to put the problems of his past behind him once and for all. In his reunion with coach Cuca, he made no secret of his conviction that he needs to finally make a positive mark on a major club.

"I'm sure I've matured and know exactly what I can and can't do. At 28, this could be my chance in my career. I know it's up to me, and everyone can be sure I'm here to bring joy, not disappointment," the number 10 assured.

During his first meeting with his new teammates, Zé Roberto received a special welcome from goalkeeper Bruno, who praised him throughout the week. The warm welcome further strengthens the supporter's confidence that he will have a successful future with the club.

"We have a strong squad, and I know I'll have to fight for a spot on the team. I was very well received, which gives me even more strength to work and be a winner alongside everyone else."
