Chileans analyze the red-black performance
Maldonado and Fierro believe Flamengo could have come away with a better result from Santiago
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inTwo players from the red-and-black squad felt at least a sense of joy last Wednesday. Despite the loss to Universidad de Chile, Maldonado and Fierro returned to their home country, Chile, for the first time since the earthquakes that have frightened the region in recent days.
\After the match, the two discussed the red-and-black team's performance. Maldonado, who traveled with the team after four months away from the field, believes the team could have capitalized on its scoring opportunities a little better.
\"The Universidad team knew how to take advantage of the chances they had. But I don't think Flamengo played a bad game. They had the opportunities and took them, but we, suddenly, didn't convert them," he observed.
\Fierro, who came on in the second half, lamented the result and the opposing fans' attitude. The player was booed for his past performance in the Colo-Colo jersey, "La U"'s rival.
\"It was strange to return to my country and be booed, but that's normal. At home, we are strong, and we can turn this result around," he said.
\The two Chileans will be available to Andrade for next Sunday's classic against Botafogo, at Engenhão.
