A clean sheet is a source of pride

Jean believes the defense performed well against Vasco and promises to keep up the pace.

In 2009, Flamengo fans remember that the team only managed to secure their sixth championship title when they improved their defensive system. From the moment the team started marking more strongly and conceding fewer goals, the team improved. And it is this formula that the experienced defender Jean is betting on for the team from Gávea to achieve good results again this season.

After his first "Clássico dos Milhões" (Classic of Millions) representing Flamengo, Jean praised the team's defensive performance and said he was proud to have left the field without conceding a goal against an attack featuring players like Zé Roberto, Felipe, and Carlos Alberto.

"Vasco has very high-quality players, and to go 90 minutes against this team without conceding a goal is a source of pride for me. I'm happy with the defensive performance, but we know we need to improve in some areas to achieve good results in the rest of the championship," he said.

The player also commented on the atmosphere of the match against Vasco. According to him, it was a different game from all the others he has played in during his career.

"It's very different from the derbies I've played in before. It was a great, beautiful game, with chances for both sides, and I believe it was important not to have conceded any goals. I'm happy, and now I have to keep working to win the next matches because, unfortunately, this time it didn't happen," he concluded.

This was the second game for Jean Ferreira Narde, 30, wearing the Flamengo jersey. With him in defense, the team conceded only one goal in two matches, in the 1-0 defeat to Inter at Beira Rio.
