Flamengo president Marcio Braga inaugurated Flamengo's new press room late Tuesday afternoon in Gávea. The Marilene Dabus Journalist Room pays tribute to the club's press officer. "It's a longtime dream," Marilene summarized. The honoree, who began covering the club in the 70s, celebrates four decades of sports journalism this year.

According to Marilene Dabus, the new room will now house all press conferences held after training sessions. Measuring approximately 50m2, the space features a work table large enough to accommodate laptops, set against a glass wall overlooking the Gávea pitch. This is a major advantage, according to journalist Carlos Eduardo Mansur, a reporter for the newspaper O Globo. "It's the only press room among the major Rio clubs where you don't have to leave the room to watch training. In the others, you have to stand in the rain or under the strong sun."

Flamengo's football press officer, Leonardo André, believes the new facility is a win for everyone, not just the club. "The more structure and comfort we can offer, the easier the press's work will be." According to him, the Training Center project also includes the construction of a similar, even larger, room.

The decision to build the room was made approximately a month ago, reveals Marilene Dabus. The club took advantage of the open-air area where post-training interviews already took place. According to Fla-Gávea vice-president Luiz Paulo Segond, the space was built in just over 10 days by an in-house team. The room includes a bathroom and air conditioning. Further improvements are under consideration, says Marilene. Also participating in the ceremony were the club's vice-president, Delair Dumbrosck, vice-president of football Kléber Leite, and football manager Isaías Tinoco, among other executives.
