With overwhelming starts in the first and second halves of the game, Flamengo thrashed Resende 5-0 and secured early qualification for the Taça Guanabara. The Rubro-Negro took to the field on Sunday afternoon (28), at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, and relied on Emerson (2), Cirino (2) and Gabriel to build the score. With the result, the team secured a place among the top four in group B and earned a spot in the next stage.

The next match for Muricy Ramalho's team will be against Bangu, on Sunday (6), at 17 pm, for the last round of the first phase of the State Championship. The match location is yet to be defined.

The game
Flamengo came onto the field in overwhelming fashion, and within five minutes the score was already 2-0 for the Rubro-Negro. At 48 seconds into the first half, Emerson opened the scoring after a dangerous corner kick from Mancuello. Then, Cirino received the assist from the Argentinian, dribbled past the defender, and shot into the back of the net. At twenty minutes, Flamengo had four shots – a 50% success rate – and Resende none. After the high-intensity start, the pace slowed, and neither team created many clear-cut chances until halftime.

In the second half, once again, a frantic start. Cirino and Gabriel scored twice in the first eight minutes of the second half. While the number 7 received a backheel pass from Guerrero to enter the area and shoot across goal, the number 17 was set up by Jorge and sealed the rout: 4-0.
