Depending on biological individuality and the diversity of efforts in training and games, there are differences in dehydration. With the technology of Gatorade, who worked together with the club's highly qualified professionals, it is possible to produce isotonic drinks that are more appropriate for each professional, as explained by one of Rubro-Negro's physiologists, Felipe Olive.
"Through this, we can individualize the amount of electrolytes that each athlete releases in sweat. From there, Gatorade will produce a specific isotonic drink for each athlete, meaning hydration will be more appropriate for each one," he said.
The sweat analysis process goes through several steps until the final result and the production of personalized beverages are obtained. "First, a hydration measurement process is carried out, with the athlete's urine collected. Weighing is done before and after the sweating period, and a patch (specific for testing) is applied during training to monitor each player's hydration," explained Daniel Gonçalves, the scientific coordinator of soccer.
Peterson Mendes, the club's nutritionist, highlighted the importance of sweat analysis and adequate hydration for performance on the field.
"To give you an idea, 1% to 2% dehydration already causes a loss of approximately 20% in the athlete's performance. It is very important to replace these salts," he concluded.
