Flamengo took to the field on Wednesday night (15) and beat Cuiabá 2-0 at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 12th round of the Brasileirão. The red-black goals were scored by Ayrton Lucas and Gabi. With the result, Mengão reached 15 points and rose to ninth place in the championship.

The game
Flamengo started the match exchanging passes in the attacking half. And just six minutes in, they opened the scoring at the Maracanã! Ayrton Lucas made a beautiful individual play, got to the byline, and crossed. The ball took effect and went into the goal. Walter tried to save it, but was unable to: 1-0.

The red-and-black team continued to dominate possession and create attacking opportunities. In the 19th minute, Gabi crossed from the left edge of the box, and Arrascaeta headed the ball against the post. Flamengo's second goal was very close.

In the 39th minute, Andreas exchanged passes with Arrascaeta and crossed. The ball deflected off Paulão, forcing Walter to make a great save. Gabi then managed to find the net, but the referee ruled the striker offside. The Mais Querido (Most Beloved) went into halftime with the lead.

Early in the second half, Arrascaeta took a free kick from the left, Pablo rose and headed it stylishly, but Walter saved. Flamengo maintained possession in attack and exchanged passes to try to create space in Cuiabá's defense.

In the 26th minute, Ayrton Lucas crossed to Arrascaeta, who misplaced the ball and sent it wide. In the 30th minute, Vitinho delivered a great pass to Everton Ribeiro, who hit the crossbar. Walter deflected the ball.

After so much persistence, Mengão scored the second! Arrascaeta received the ball from Vitinho and passed it perfectly to Gabigol, who extended the lead to 2-0. Encouraged by the nation, who supported the team throughout the 90 minutes, the Rubro-Negro returned to winning ways in the Brasileirão and moved up a few places in the standings.

Next appointment
The Most Beloved returns to the field next Sunday (19) to face Atlético-MG, at 16 pm, at Mineirão, for the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship.
