Another away win! In the penultimate round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo beat Criciúma 3-0 on Wednesday night (4), at the Heriberto Hülse stadium, in Santa Catarina. Varela, Bruno Henrique and Luiz Araújo scored for Mengão, who remain in third place with 69 points.

The game
The match began with both teams closely studying each other. Flamengo, as is typical, controlled more possession. Three minutes in, the red-and-black team took their first shot at goal. Plata passed to Bruno Henrique, who shot, but Gustavo saved. On the next play, Ayrton Lucas received the ball on the left, cut it wide, and shot into the goalkeeper's hands.

As the game progressed, Criciúma started to come from behind and began to push the red-and-black area more, but without posing any major threat to Matheus Cunha's goal. In the 34th minute, Matheus Gonçalves took a corner from the right and David Luiz headed it unmarked, but the ball was weak and the goalkeeper made a save.

Mengão managed to open the scoring before halftime. Bruno Henrique found a beautiful pass to Ayrton Lucas, who rolled the ball into the middle of the box. Varela caught it first time and found the back of the net past Heriberto Hülse: 1-0.

At the start of the second half, coach Filipe Luís made two substitutions for the Red-Blacks. Michael replaced Alcaraz, and Luiz Araújo replaced Matheus Gonçalves. The game continued with both teams looking to attack.

In the 22nd minute, Luiz Araújo struck a first-time shot from the edge of the box, and defender Tobias Figueiredo handled the ball. The referee reviewed the play using VAR and awarded a penalty. Bruno Henrique stepped up to take the shot and slotted it into the goalkeeper's right corner to extend the lead to 2-0.

After the goal, Mengão didn't slow down and continued to attack in an attempt to score the third, which came in the 38th minute. Erick Pulgar gave a beautiful pass to Luiz Araújo, who came face to face with the goalkeeper and hit the ball with his toe to make it 3-0. It was the number 7's first goal after returning from injury.

In stoppage time, the Mais Querido nearly scored a fourth. Wesley led a strong counterattack, Plata passed to Luiz Araújo, who attempted a chip toward goal. Michael got the rebound and passed to the number 7, who slotted it over the defense. After the play was complete, the referee blew the final whistle. Another good away win for the red-and-blacks.
