Victory with a gala performance! On Wednesday night (16), Flamengo put on a beautiful display at Maracanã, beating Juventude 6-0 in the fourth round of the national competition. Erick, Danilo, Plata, Arrascaeta and Pedro (2) scored for Mengão, who remain top of the championship with 10 points. Now, Mengão will face Vasco in the classic on Saturday.

The game
The match began with Flamengo dominating the attacking half, passing the ball from foot to foot, trying to create space in Juventude's defense. The first good chance fell to the red-and-black team in the sixth minute. Arrascaeta received the ball on the left side of the box and fired a shot toward the corner. The ball sailed just wide of the post.

Mengão opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Arrascaeta took a free kick into the box, and Erick Pulgar headed it into the net for the Gaucho team: 1-0. Five minutes later, Mengão extended their lead. Michael found Gerson in the middle, who delivered a beautiful pass to Plata. The Ecuadorian subtly tapped the ball past the goalkeeper to score the second.

Without taking their foot off the gas and with merciless force, Mengão scored the third goal in the 21st minute, in a devastating start for the red-and-black team. Similar to the first goal, Arrascaeta took a free kick into the box, and this time, Danilo rose to head it in: 3-0.

With a comfortable lead, Flamengo had a comfortable passing game, completely enveloping Juventude. The first half ended with Mengo all the way!

Flamengo returned with one change for the second half: Luiz Araújo replaced Erick. It's worth noting that Alex Sandro had already come off in the final minutes of the first half. He felt discomfort in his thigh and was replaced by Ayrton Lucas.

With extensive possession and surrounding the opposition, Mengão scored their fourth goal thanks to another brilliant move by Arrascaeta. Michael found the number 10 at the edge of the box, controlled the ball with one foot, and fired the ball into the goalkeeper's right corner with the other: 4-0.

After the rout was confirmed, Filipe Luís made two more substitutions. Pedro replaced Arrascaeta, and Cebolinha replaced Michael. And the changes paid off immediately! After seven months of recovery, Pedro found the net again! Wesley delivered a perfect cross for the number 9 to head firmly into the net, sending the nation into a frenzy chanting: "Olê lê, olá, lá, Pedro is coming and things are going to get tough!"

In the 32nd minute, Mengão was awarded a penalty! Pedro was brought down in the box, and the referee awarded the penalty. The number 9 himself stepped up to take the shot, the goalkeeper saved it, and on the rebound, the striker finished into the net, scoring his second goal of the game.

In the final minutes, the red-and-black team maintained possession and controlled the game until the final whistle. A stellar performance with a rout at the Maracanã!
