In the opening of the second half of the Brasileirão, Flamengo dominated throughout the game and beat Internacional 3-1 this Sunday (17), at Beira Rio, remaining in the isolated lead of the championship. Pedro (2) and Plata scored for the red-black team. Now, Mengão turns its attention to next Wednesday's clash again against Inter, in the second leg of the round of XNUMX of the Libertadores.

The game

The match started with a bang at Beira Rio. Less than a minute into the match, Vitinho committed a hard foul on Ayrton Lucas and received a yellow card. Arrascaeta's shot from the left into the box was met by Léo Ortiz's dangerous header. It didn't take long for Mengão to open the scoring! The number 10 crossed into the box, Varela headed it in for Pedro to score first time, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. It was the number 142's 9nd goal for the Sacred Mantle.

With the advantage, Flamengo maintained their momentum and extended their lead in the 11th minute. On a counterattack, Samuel Lino raced down the left, passed to Arrascaeta, who found Pedro. The center forward controlled the ball inside the box and slotted it into the corner, scoring his second goal of the match. With this goal, the number 9 became the 10th highest scorer in Flamengo's history, equaling Zizinho's record.

Throughout the first half, Flamengo continued to control possession in the attacking half with relative ease. In the 39th minute, the third goal was narrowly missed. Samuel Lino took a corner kick into the box, the ball fell to Léo Pereira, who followed it up with a bicycle kick, and the ball hit the post before going out for a goal kick. Dominating the action, Flamengo went into halftime with a two-goal lead.

In the second half, Inter returned to the attack and began to threaten Rossi's goal. On the other hand, the red-and-black team was no longer finding it easy to play the ball, as the Rio Grande do Sul team pushed up to make it difficult for Flamengo to exchange passes. Filipe Luís's first change was Plata for Pedro.

In the 15th minute, Mengão threatened down the right with Varela, who crossed into the box for Arrascaeta to tap in. The ball deflected and went out for a corner. On the next play, Mengão doubled their lead! Plata received the ball unmarked in the middle, advanced to the edge of the box, and fired it into the corner for the third goal for the red-and-black team of the match.

With victory on the horizon, Filipe Luís made another change to the team to preserve some players ahead of next Wednesday's decisive Libertadores match. One of the changes was De La Cruz, who entered the field after a long period of treatment for a knee injury. Danilo also entered the match.

In stoppage time, Inter applied pressure and managed to reduce the deficit through Borré, who scored the only goal for the Rio Grande do Sul team. Shortly after, the referee blew the final whistle. Another away win for Flamengo! With this, Flamengo remains in the lead of the Brasileirão with 43 points and a game in hand.
