Porto Alegre (RS) - While some Flamengo fans were put off by the cold in Porto Alegre, Colombian Cristian Borja is more than accustomed to Rio Grande do Sul. Having played for Internacional's youth academy and after a successful season with Caxias, the striker transferred to Flamengo this summer, but still feels at home in Rio Grande do Sul.
"I've been here for a long time, I'm used to the climate, but we know that the cold always makes things difficult," he explained.
Excited about the opportunity to face Internacional, Borja believes the match will be difficult, but gives the red-blacks a hope: the Beira-Rio pitch should be in better condition than in the 2009 duel, when, due to the rain, the pitch was flooded.
"For a player, it's always good to face big teams. It's crucial to showcase your work in these matches. The pitch is a little better than last year. With rain, any pitch is difficult to play on. But we hope it will be a good game," said the Colombian, who already says he's well-matched with the rest of the group.
"I'm already in tune with the group, working well and I hope to continue improving every day to help the team," he added.
