"For sure, we're going to fight for the Copa Sudamericana."
Vanderlei Luxemburgo remains optimistic and sees Flamengo on the right track in the Brazilian Championship.
By From the official website team - inUndefeated since arriving at Gávea, coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo knows he still has a lot to do in charge of Flamengo, but he already sees the team on the right track in the competition. Aware that Flamengo is still in a delicate situation in the standings, the coach sees the team improving with each round and expresses confidence for the final rounds of the competition.
\"Flamengo's championship is different. We have the emotional aspect. A defeat brings discomfort. We have to accumulate points. We've reached 39, we're making progress," he explained.
\The coach saw a good performance from his team against Corinthians at Engenhão, especially in the second half. For him, the dedication shown by the team in the final 45 minutes of the game is an example for the rest of the year.
"The second half was ours. We changed our approach. The first half was awful. It wasn't the team I like. You can even lose, but you have to make the opponent suffer to win. The way we played in the first half, we handed the result to them. We made a lot of mistakes. Not in the second half. You have to leave the field exhausted, worn out. And that's how the team left after the final stage," said the coach, who continues with the 2011 Copa Sudamericana as his main objective.
"Since I arrived, I've been talking about the Copa Sudamericana. We're in a complicated situation, but that doesn't change our objective. We've gotten out of the relegation zone and, for sure, we're going to fight for that spot in the Copa Sudamericana," he concluded.
