In a match valid for the fifth round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo had a solid performance and beat Goiás 2-0 on Wednesday night (10), at Maracanã. Pedro and Everton Ribeiro scored the goals in the red-black triumph. With the result, Mais Querido added six points in the classification table.

The game
Flamengo started the match by pressing Goiás's attacking play, trying to regain possession and quickly attack. Just five minutes in, Ayrton Lucas received the ball deep and was brought down in the box. The referee, on the spot, awarded a penalty. Pedro stepped up to take the kick and calmly beat the goalkeeper to open the scoring: 1-0.

Shortly after the goal, Pedro left the field to be replaced by Bruno Henrique. The number 9 felt a strain in his right thigh. In the 21st minute, Cebolinha stepped up to his marker and fired a cross that the goalkeeper saved well. The rebound fell to Arrascaeta, who fired a shot from the edge of the box. The ball went just wide of the post.

Mengão came out on top again in the 29th minute. Ayrton Lucas backheeled the ball to Arrascaeta, who unleashed a powerful shot. The goalkeeper saved it, and on the rebound, Everton Ribeiro attempted a right-footed shot but missed. The red-and-black team continued to attack. In the 40th minute, Wesley crossed to Bruno Henrique in the box; the striker headed the ball wide. The first half ended with Mengão ahead.

At the start of the second half, Mengão extended their lead at the Maracanã! Cebolinha received the ball on the left and crossed low for Everton Ribeiro to backheel and score a stunning goal of pure class: 2-0.

Even with a two-man lead, Flamengo didn't slow down and continued to attack. In the 10th minute, Everton Ribeiro passed the ball to Cebolinha, who finished for goal, but the defender blocked the shot and conceded a corner. In the 17th minute, Flamengo passed the ball back and forth until it reached Cebolinha, who cut inside and took a shot from outside the box, but the ball went wide.

Around the 20th minute, coach Jorge Sampaoli made three substitutions at once. Vidal, Matheus França, and David Luiz came on for Erick, Everton Ribeiro, and Ayrton Lucas, respectively. The changes allowed the team to maintain its intensity and create attacking opportunities.

In the final stretch, Mais Querido managed the result and left the field with their second victory in the Brazilian Championship.
