Gabigol has developed a taste for the net and today was the man in the 3-1 victory over Portuguesa at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium in the second round of the Taça Rio. The team started off strong, scoring two early goals and then controlling the match, rarely threatening the opposition. With over 60% possession, Flamengo didn't face any danger on the field, and they took advantage of the match to build more chemistry ahead of their Copa Libertadores debut next Tuesday against San José in Oruro. 

The start was overwhelming. Four minutes in, Gabriel took a corner kick that Bruno Henrique headed, but Henrique put it away, leaving the Lusa goalkeeper with no chance. A minute later, with the fans still celebrating, Bruno returned the pass to Gabigol, and the score was already 2-0. The team was completely superior on the field and could have extended the lead, but they were denied by goalkeeper Ruan, who made some good saves. 

Portuguesa barely got past the midfield due to Flamengo's good defensive posture and the greater technical quality of Rubro-Negro, who held the score until half-time. 

In the second half, Abel Braga's team maintained a more measured pace, aware of the advantage they held. In the 12th minute, Bruno Henrique burst down the left and shot close to Portuguesa's goal, rousing the crowd at Raulino. In the 23rd minute, there was no way out. Gabriel received the ball from Renê and shot well, leaving Ruan with no chance. It was Flamengo's third. Abel made changes to the team, making all three substitutions practically simultaneously. Portuguesa pulled one back with a PK, but it was insufficient. The victory was assured in Volta Redonda, giving them the necessary peace of mind to climb the hill next week.
