Flamengo did its part. The team went to Mineirão, beat Cruzeiro 2-0, with two goals from Everton Ribeiro, and reached 72 points in the standings. However, with Palmeiras' 1-0 victory over Vasco da Gama at São Januário Stadium, the championship ended, and the São Paulo team was crowned champion. With 77 points, they can no longer be overtaken in the final round.
In the match played at Mineirão, Flamengo opened the scoring early on. In the sixth minute, Uribe had the first chance, but his shot was weak, and Fábio made a good save. A minute later, Everton Ribeiro picked up the ball on the left, charged at the defense, humiliated Egídio with a spectacular lob, and fired a shot past Fábio. A stunning goal to open the scoring at Mineirão.

The goal changed the game. While the tie persisted in Rio, Flamengo tried to extend its lead in Minas. Cruzeiro barely threatened, but the first half ended with only a narrow lead.
After halftime, Everton Ribeiro once again showed his talent. He received the ball far from goal, adjusted it, and fired it with the inside of his foot. Fábio had no chance to save it. If there's such a thing as the Law of the Ex, he was the jury, judge, and executioner at the Mineirão stadium.
After the goal, Cruzeiro improved the match and had excellent opportunities. Flamengo worked harder to hold on to the result and ended up drawing the Minas Gerais team back to their own half. With good saves, César held the score at zero and maintained the score until the end. With Palmeiras' goal, all that was left was to wait for the timeout to end the game and the championship.
