The game
Flamengo already felt at home at Ilha do Urubu and had complete control of the field. Right in the first minute of the match, Everton and Damião exchanged passes on the right and created a dangerous chance in the opponent's area: the number 22 tried to cross but the ball went out for a corner.
Vinicius Júnior, alternating on the wings, and center forward Damião were good options in attack, looking for vertical plays. At 11 minutes, the first dangerous play involving the two: the youngster got past his marker well on the right and crossed to the striker in the penalty area; Damião stretched out and almost reached it. Following that, this time exploiting the left flank, Vinicius Júnior delivered a high ball to Damião, who headed it, but it was deflected by the defender. The sharp duo caused problems again at 19 minutes and, on the rebound, Everton tried a shot from mid-range, but the shot lacked power.
The game remained uneventful until the final minutes when the first goal came from Ilha do Urubu, and it was scored by a defender. Goal for Flamengo. Goal for the captain. In stoppage time of the first half, after a corner kick by Diego, Réver rose higher than everyone else to head the ball into the net and open the scoring in the last play before the final whistle.
The second half began with the game concentrated in midfield, becoming fragmented. Then, in the 14th minute, the duo that had been practicing in the first half achieved their objective. Vinicius Júnior, after receiving the ball from Damião, delivered a perfect cross for the striker, who outjumped Aranha and headed in to make it 2-0.
