Playing in Belo Horizonte, Flamengo took to the field this Wednesday (6) and beat Cruzeiro 1-0 at the Independência stadium, in the 32nd round of the Brasileirão. David Luiz, with a free kick, scored the only goal of the match. With the victory, Rubro-Negro added 58 points and returned to fourth place in the championship.

The game
The match began with Cruzeiro valuing possession in the attacking half, while Flamengo adopted a more cautious approach, waiting for their opponent to counterattack. Gradually, the red-and-black team began to keep possession of the ball in attack and tried to reach Cássio's goal.

In the 21st minute, the red-and-black team's first good attack came from Matheus Gonçalves, who exchanged passes with Plata and took a shot. Cássio made the save. A minute later, David Luiz released Bruno Henrique on the right; the striker won the battle with Marlon and shot toward goal. The ball hit the post and ended up on the left side of the box.

In the closing stages, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) had greater control of possession, moving the ball from side to side, looking for space to penetrate the opponent's box. In the 40th minute, Rossi provided a good pass to Bruno Henrique at speed. He dribbled past his marker, burst into the box, and hit a cross, but no one arrived to finish. The first half ended goalless.

Early in the second half, Mengão opened the scoring at Independência. A free kick for Flamengo on the right side of the box was cleverly spotted by David Luiz, who quickly spotted the gap in the wall and fired the ball past Cássio, making it 1-0.

After the goal, Cruzeiro pushed forward to try to equalize. This gave Flamengo space to exploit their high-speed plays. In the 25th minute, Rossi made a good save on a shot from outside the box by Barreal.

In the closing stages, Alcaraz scored the second goal for the red-and-black team, but after a VAR review, the referee ruled the Argentine offside. In stoppage time, Cruzeiro went all out to equalize, but Flamengo managed to hold on and leave the field with an important victory to return to the top four of the Brasileirão.
