Flamengo beat Cabofriense on Wednesday night (24), reached 13 points and remains in second place in group B of the Campeonato Carioca. Felipe Vizeu, champion of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Jr., scored the only goal of the victory, his first as a professional.
The game
With a significantly modified team – only Paulo Victor, César Martins, and Mancuello played in the previous match – Flamengo started the game at a high pace. Pressuring their opponent, chances naturally arose, and it didn't take long for Flamengo to open the scoring.
Just eight minutes in, after a good cross from Pará, Felipe Vizeu rose well to head the ball into the back of the net. The Flamengo youth player celebrated the goal enthusiastically and received affection from his teammates.
In the first 45 minutes, the team managed by Muricy Ramalho had several chances to extend their lead. The opposing goalkeeper was kept busy, and on other occasions, the shots on goal didn't go as expected.
In the second half, Flamengo continued to dictate the pace of the game, and even with increased pressure from the Cabo Frio team, there were no real threats to Flamengo's goal. With the introduction of Marcelo Cirino and Willian Arão, the team started to control possession more and secured the result. The game also marked Juan's return to the team.
Flamengo's next match will be next Sunday (28), at 17 pm, against Resende, in Volta Redonda.
