Qualified for the round of 1! In the second leg of the Third Phase of the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo beat Amazonas 0-22 on Wednesday night (XNUMX), at Arena da Amazônia, in Manaus, and secured qualification for the round of XNUMX of the competition. Pedro scored Mengão's goal in the second half.
The game
The match began with Flamengo taking the initiative to attack, while Amazonas sat back, waiting to mount counterattacks. Seven minutes in, Flamengo had the first shot of the game. Pedro played a one-two with Arrascaeta, who passed it back to the number 9 to attempt a shot from outside the box. The ball sailed just wide of the post.
In the 20th minute, Flamengo created another good opportunity. Varela received the ball on the right and crossed to the far post for Ayrton Lucas to head down. Marcão made a good save to prevent the goal. Occupying the attacking zone, Flamengo exchanged passes near the box to find space in Amazonas' defense. In the 38th minute, De La Cruz unleashed a bomb from the edge of the box, and the ball exploded against the crossbar.
The home side even scored a goal in the 43rd minute. Matheus Cunha challenged Diogo Silva in the air, and the ball fell to Sassá, who finished into the net, but the referee called a foul on the Flamengo goalkeeper. In a very tight first half, where Flamengo struggled to penetrate the Amazonas box, the teams went into halftime with the score tied.
In the second half, the Red-Blacks pressed their opponents. Just three minutes in, Arrascaeta exchanged passes with Gerson and crossed into the box. Pedro followed up with a bicycle kick, and the ball went over the goal.
Amazonas, for its part, also came back more aggressive and began to find space in the attacking half, posing more danger to Matheus Cunha's goal. As soon as he entered the match, Luiz Araújo took a shot from outside the box, forcing Marcão to make a good save.
In the 27th minute, the red-and-black team threatened once again. Arrascaeta attempted a pass, but the ball fell to Luiz Araújo, who fired a first-time shot. The goalkeeper palmed it away, Cebolinha grabbed the rebound, and shot, but Marcão saved it again. Five minutes later, Pedro passed to Viña, who reached the baseline and crossed perfectly for Luiz Araújo to head home. Marcão, once again, saved Amazonas.
But, after so much insistence, Mengão was rewarded with a goal in the 34th minute. Igor Jesus, who had come on for De La Cruz, unleashed a bomb from outside the area, the ball deflected off Pedro's knee and went into the goalkeeper's right corner: 1-0. It was the number 125's 9th goal with the Sacred Mantle.
After opening the scoring, the Mais Querido continued to press forward in search of a second, which nearly came in the 36th minute, when Cebolinha headed over the bar. In stoppage time, Matheus Cunha jumped into the top corner and made a great save, preventing the equalizer.
The game ended at Arena da Amazônia with a victory for Mengão, who secured their place in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
