On the opening night of the 2024 Copa do Brasil, Flamengo beat Amazonas 1-0 this Wednesday (1), at Maracanã, in the first leg of the third phase. Pedro, in the first half, scored the only goal of the match. With the result, Rubro-Negro will have the advantage of a draw in the return leg, in Manaus.

The game
Flamengo dominated the opening moves at the Maracanã, controlling possession and passing the ball around the attacking half. Just five minutes in, De La Cruz took a shot from outside the box, but the ball went wide.

Amazonas, meanwhile, remained locked in deep, waiting for an opportunity to break down on the counterattack. Then, in the 19th minute, Mengão broke the deadlock! Viña played a one-two with Bruno Henrique, who passed it back to the full-back, who crossed perfectly for Pedro to head home: 1-0.

In the final minutes of the first half, Allan unleashed a shot from outside the box, but the goalkeeper managed to palm it away. Rubro-Negro went into the break with a narrow lead.

In the second half, in the first minute, Bruno Henrique passed to Lorran, but the striker shot wide. Shortly after, from a set piece, Fabrício Bruno passed to Viña, who fired a powerful shot. The ball went to the goalkeeper's left.

Flamengo threatened again in the 12th minute with Bruno Henrique, who advanced down the left to the byline and crossed into the box for Pedro to head over the bar. In the 18th minute, the home crowd at the Maracanã celebrated the return of idol Gabi, who returned from suspension.

Throughout the match, the red-and-black team kept prowling the Amazonas box, but failed to create much. With Pedro's goal in the first half, Flamengo debuted with a victory in the Copa do Brasil.

Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Saturday (4) to face RB Bragantino, at 18:30 pm, at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, for the fifth round of the Brasileirão.
