The game
Flamengo started the game by maintaining possession and exchanging passes in the attacking half. The first good chance came in the seventh minute. Everton Ribeiro found Wesley on the byline, he crossed into the box, and Ademir made the cut. Bruno Henrique fired the ball wide from the rebound.

Looking to open the scoring, the red-and-black team remained on the attack. In the 13th minute, Everton Ribeiro sent a perfect cross to Bruno Henrique, who attempted to head the ball just wide of the post. Bahia, meanwhile, waited in the backfield to launch counterattacks.

With more play, Flamengo managed to create some dangerous plays up front. In the 26th minute, Everton Ribeiro chested the ball down for Bruno Henrique to burst into the box and cross. Pedro tried to deflect it with a sliding tackle, but didn't get there in time.

Shortly after, Erick stole the ball in midfield, passed it to Ribeiro, and received it back. The Chilean crossed for Pedro, who was blocked just as he was about to finish.

In the 43rd minute, Ayrton Lucas burst into the box and was brought down by Yago Felipe. Initially, the referee had awarded a penalty, but after a VAR check, a foul was called outside the box. Erick took a direct free kick from the left edge of the box, and the ball hit the crossbar. The red-and-black team narrowly avoided scoring before the end of the first half.

In the first minute of the second half, Gerson launched a counterattack and was stopped by a foul by Kanu. The referee issued a yellow card, but VAR called him back. After reviewing the play, Savio Pereira withdrew the yellow card and issued a straight red, leaving Bahia with ten men. Erick took the free kick, and the ball grazed the post.

With the numerical advantage on the field, Mengão went all out against Bahia and opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Bruno Henrique was brought down by Gilberto inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Pedro stepped up to take the penalty and only just displaced the goalkeeper, to the nation's celebration at the Maracanã: 1-0.

After the goal, interim coach Mario Jorge made three substitutions for the red-and-black team. Wesley, Thiago Maia, and Pedro were replaced by Matheuzinho, Luiz Araújo, and Gabi, respectively.

Soon after, Cebolinha came on for Bruno Henrique and made a good play down the right flank. The striker dribbled past two players and shot on goal, but Marcos Felipe made the save. In the closing stages, Rubro-Negro still had a few chances on the attack, but the match ended with a 1-0 victory.
