In the seventh round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo beat Goiás 1-0 on Saturday afternoon (21), at Maracanã. Pedro scored the only goal for the red-black team in the match. With the result, Mengão added nine points in the championship and moved up a few positions in the league table.

The game
Flamengo started the match by pressing Goiás, who sat deep and defended heavily. In the eighth minute, the red-and-black team had their first shot on goal. Bruno Henrique received the ball on the left, cut inside, and took a shot. Tadeu made the save.

In the 16th minute, Mengão opened the scoring at the Maracanã Stadium! Gabi delivered a great pass to Matheuzinho, who took the ball to the byline and crossed into the box. Pedro, well positioned, only had to tap it into the net: 1-0.

Pablo then headed in the second, but the referee called a foul on Tadeu. The Mais Querido (Most Beloved) still created a few opportunities to extend their lead in the first half, but they were still far superior to their opponents and went into the break with a one-goal lead.

Early in the second half, Everton Ribeiro took a free kick from the right edge of the penalty area, and Tadeu made the save. Dominating possession, the red-and-black team exchanged passes in the attacking half, looking for space in the emerald defense.

As the game progressed, Goiás pushed forward more and threatened the red-and-black goal. In the final minutes, Apodi found himself face-to-face with Hugo and shot over the bar.

With a great first half, Flamengo scored their only goal of the match through Pedro and secured an important victory. It's worth highlighting, once again, the Nation's presence, which filled the Maracanã stadium and pushed the team from start to finish.

Next appointment
Mais Querido returns to the field next Tuesday (24) to face Sporting Cristal, at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã, for the last round of the group stage of the Libertadores.
