During the first half, Flamengo sought to break through Resende's defense, primarily with plays down the wings. Remaining in the attacking half for much of the 45 minutes, Flamengo created good opportunities but failed to convert them. While the attack sought to open the scoring, the defenders fended off the opponent's attacks, and Thiago made solid saves.
The second half began with Flamengo pressing from the outset. Constantly searching for a goal, Flamengo found space and created good opportunities, but failed to get past Resende's goalkeeper. In stoppage time, Resende opened the scoring with a move from Meninos do Ninho. From the right, Cafu delivered a precise cross to Felipe Vizeu's head, who made no mistake and scored.
The result keeps Flamengo in first place in Group B with six points and two wins. Mais Querido returns to the field for the Taça Rio next Wednesday (22), when they face Bangu at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, in Volta Redonda, at 21:45 pm.
