Flamengo started the match with high intensity, in a duel marked by strong physical play. In the very first minute, Carrascal, responsible for the creativity of the Flamengo midfield, suffered a hard foul from Piovi, who received a yellow card. Shortly after, at seven minutes, Flamengo calmly and patiently worked the ball possession until they found space. Evertton Araújo made a beautiful pass to Jorginho, who was free at the edge of the area. The midfielder controlled the ball, adjusted his position, and shot powerfully, but the ball went over the goal defended by Muslera.

With good ball circulation and control of the game, Flamengo found spaces and managed to escape the Argentine pressure in exemplary fashion, accumulating corner kicks and constant attacks into the opponent's area. In the 32nd minute of the first half, Carrascal launched Bruno Henrique deep. The striker received a touch from Meza and fell in the area.
