What a rout! In Flamengo's return to the Brasileirão, the team defeated Goiás, 6-1, on Sunday morning (14), at Maracanã. The star of the match, Arrascaeta scored three times. Gabigol (2) and Bruno Henrique scored the other goals for the red-black team. With the victory, the Mais Querido remains in third place in the competition with 20 points, six behind leader Palmeiras and three behind second-place Santos.
First time
Flamengo created several scoring opportunities and applied intense pressure early in the game. In the second minute, debutant Rafinha made a brilliant play, dribbling past two defenders and passing to Gabriel, who fired a powerful shot that forced goalkeeper Tadeu into a great save. Following the move, Rodrigo Caio rose from a corner kick and headed dangerously. Flamengo opened the scoring in the fourth minute. Gabigol received the ball in the box and laid the ball off to Arrascaeta, who simply tapped it into the net: 1-0. The opponent equalized shortly after with Kayke on a lightning-fast counterattack: 1-1.
After the draw, the teams alternated attacking moves. Mengão came close to scoring on two more occasions through Gabriel and Bruno Henrique. But it was late in the first half that Mengão broke through, scoring three goals in a row: Bruno Henrique to put the red-and-black team ahead and Arrascaeta twice.
Second time
After the break, the fans celebrated wildly and Flamengo dominated. In the 10th minute, star Arrascaeta appeared again and crossed for Gabigol to score the fifth goal of the match.
The duo worked well again near the end of the match. In the 35th minute, Everton Ribeiro found the Uruguayan again in a great position. The midfielder passed to Gabriel, who scored the sixth, sealing the victory and bringing joy to over 65 fans at the Maracanã.
