In the 32nd round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo imposed itself on the field and thrashed São Paulo 4-0 on Sunday afternoon (14), at Morumbi. The goals of Mais Querido were scored by Gabi, Bruno Henrique and Michael (2), who became the isolated top scorer of the championship with 13 goals. With the victory, Mengão reached 60 points and is eight points behind the leader.
The game
Flamengo started the match with a vengeance, and less than a minute later, they opened the scoring! Liziero hesitated on the ball, Andreas made the tackle, and Bruno Henrique passed to Gabi, who tapped it past the goalkeeper: 1-0. Then, Mengão doubled their lead. Michael left Diego behind and rolled the ball perfectly for Bruno Henrique to tap into an empty net: 2-0.
In the ninth minute, Calleri committed a severe foul on David Luiz and was sent off after the referee consulted VAR. Down ten men, São Paulo adopted a more cautious approach and waited to counterattack. In the 28th minute, Hugo took a goal kick and found Bruno Henrique on the left. The striker passed the ball to Gabi, who controlled it but fired wide.
In the 41st minute, the Mais Querido scored the third, and it was a masterpiece! After a corner, Michael got the rebound, cleared the play on Gabriel, and shot into the top corner, giving Tiago Volpi no chance: 3-0. The Rubro-Negro went into the break with a comfortable lead.
In the second half, Flamengo came back valuing possession and exchanging passes in attack. In the 9th minute, Michael scored the fourth goal for Flamengo and his second of the match. Bruno Henrique won the battle with Igor Gomes and sent a low cross to the far post. The Flamengo robot simply tapped it into the net and became the Brasileirão's top scorer: 4-0.
Even with a large lead, the Mais Querido continued to attack in search of a fifth. Michael, the match's standout player, provided a great outlet for the team on the left flank, giving the São Paulo defense plenty to work for. In the final minutes, Mengão held on to the result and left the field with a great away result.
Next appointment
Flamengo returns to the field next Wednesday (17) to face Corinthians, at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã. It is worth mentioning that this will be Mengão's last game in Rio de Janeiro before the grand final of the Libertadores against Palmeiras, on November 27, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
