In the last round of the Guanabara Cup, Flamengo had a great collective performance and thrashed Bangu 6-0 on Saturday night (12), in the Nation's return to Maracanã. Mengão's goals were scored by Arrascaeta, Gabi (2), Léo Pereira (2) and Matheus França. Now, the Most Beloved awaits its opponent in the semifinals of the Cariocão.

The game
Flamengo started the match looking to attack from the opening seconds. Bangu, on the other hand, seemed cornered and tried to break out with long balls. In the seventh minute, Flamengo created the first good opportunity. Arrascaeta crossed, the ball deflected off João Gomes and fell to Gabi. The striker fired a first-time shot, but Paulo Henrique saved.

Mengão then opened the scoring at Maraca! Matheuzinho crossed low to Gabi, who shot toward goal. The ball deflected off the defender and fell to the left of the six-yard box, for Arrascaeta to tap in: 1-0.

Bangu didn't even have time to breathe! In the 14th minute, Everton Ribeiro delivered a beautiful through ball to Gabigol, who fired a first-time shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Even with the lead, the Flamengo team didn't slow down and continued attacking. In the 18th minute, Arrasca took a corner kick and David Luiz headed the ball into the corner. Paulo Henrique stretched to palm it away.

In the 28th minute, Arrascaeta sent a corner kick from the right wing to Gabi, who unleashed a first-time shot from the edge of the box. The goalkeeper caught it in the middle of the goal. Mengão still had time to score a third late in the first half. Arrascaeta, free, headed the ball into the middle of the box, and Léo Pereira headed it powerfully into the goalkeeper's left corner: 3-0.  

In the second half, the game became more measured. Bangu retreated further back, while Flamengo maintained possession in attack, exchanging passes to try to create space in the opposing defense.

In the 26th minute, Coach Paulo Sousa took off Thiago Maia and brought on the star Matheus França. Previously, the coach had already replaced João Gomes, Everton Ribeiro, Matheuzinho, and Lázaro with Diego, Pedro, Isla, and Marinho, respectively.

And the youngster's star shone! In the 29th minute, Pedro played the ball to Matheus França, who fired a first-time shot from the edge of the box. The ball deflected off the line and flew over the goalkeeper to make it 4-0 for Mengão.

In the 35th minute, Flamengo scored their fifth! Arrascaeta took a corner kick from the left, and Léo Pereira headed it in again: 5-0. To complete the rout, Gabigol extended Flamengo's lead and scored his second goal of the match. Arrascaeta found a beautiful pass to Isla, wide open on the right. The right-back delivered a perfect cross for the top scorer to finish off the game, on a night when the nation celebrated at the Maracanã: 6-0.

Next appointment
The Most Beloved returns to the field next Wednesday (16), at 20 pm, to play the first leg of the Cariocão semifinals. Fla's opponent and home field advantage will be known this Sunday (13) after the completion of the last round.
