To the sound of cheers from the fans, the Flamengo squad used the Gávea facilities to train for the last time in Rio de Janeiro before departing for Cariacica-ES, where they will face Cruzeiro in the Brazilian Championship. Zé Ricardo led a passing and movement drill in a reduced field, as well as work on building plays and finishing.
Under the watchful eyes of fans and journalists covering the training session, the athletes headed onto the field to begin their warm-up, which consisted of ball drills and muscle stretching. Following this, they began work on passing and movement under pressure, in order to create options and practice reaction speed while working with possession.
Later, Zé Ricardo guided the players in creating plays that culminated in shots on goal. Plays were designed both through the center and down the flanks, with crosses to the near post, the far post, and to the players making runs into the penalty area. Long-range shots also received special attention, with quick passing exchanges at the edge of the box and precise strikes.
After the training session, the athletes met with the fans who had watched. Autographs were given and many photos were taken, in a simple way of reciprocating the immense affection that the fans show to the team.
Leaving Gávea, the group headed to Santos Dumont Airport, from where they departed for Espírito Santo, where they will face the Minas Gerais team in the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship. The Kléber Andrade Stadium, in Cariacica-ES, will be packed once again to support the beloved team. The match kicks off at 16 PM.
