On another inspired afternoon, Flamengo played exceptionally well, defeating Athletico-PR 3-0 in a Brasileirão 23rd-round match at the Maracanã stadium. Everton Ribeiro, Bruno Henrique, and Andreas scored the goals. With the result, Flamengo moved into second place in the Brasileirão.
The game
The first good move for the red-and-blacks came just two minutes in. Bruno Henrique took the ball to the baseline but shot over. On the next play, Andreas received the ball from BH and hit the post. On the rebound, Everton Ribeiro completed: 1-0 Mengão!
The second goal came in the ninth minute. Gabi delivered a perfect cross to Bruno Henrique, who headed the ball into the net. Despite the lead, Renato Gaúcho's team maintained the same composure. In the 48th minute, Andreas extended the lead on a spectacular counterattack led by Gabi and Arrascaeta! The Uruguayan sprinted after a first-time pass from the striker and provided a beautiful assist for the number 18, who tapped it past the goalkeeper and scored the third in the final play before halftime.
On the return leg, Gabi crossed into the box, and the goalkeeper saved. In the sixth minute, Kenedy took a shot from outside the box, and the ball went close. In the ninth minute, Diego Alves made a beautiful save from Carlos Eduardo's shot. In the final stretch, with a few changes, Flamengo managed the advantage and created more chances, but the score remained the same as the first half: 3-0.
