The Game

The first half was lively, with significant chances in every area of ​​the pitch. Five minutes into the match, the first good chance came: Everton Cebolinha received a beautiful through ball on the left, entered the box, and crossed low to Matheus França. The youngster, closely marked inside the box, adjusted with his right foot and shot with his left, posing a threat to the American goal. The attacking duo would still make their mark in the opening stages of the match.

Ten minutes into the game, the score was opened—precisely by the red-and-black gem. João Gomes made a good run and, when attempting a cross, won a corner. Marinho perfectly placed the kick, and Matheus França rose well at the near post to open the scoring with a header. The celebration, however, was brief: América-MG equalized two minutes later.
