Win or win. After three winless games in the 2017 Brazilian Championship, that's Flamengo's mindset for this Saturday's match against Coritiba, at 19 p.m., at Ilha do Urubu. Sitting fourth in the standings with 25 points, the Rubro-Negro team wants, in addition to a victory, a performance to celebrate the debut of the new third Sangrado Manto, in yellow and blue. Recently launched and already a hit with the nation, the jersey will be the big news of the match. 

The midfielder gave a press conference on Friday in Gávea and spoke about the match against Coritiba and the need for victory. 

"We have to understand that if we want to fight for the title, we have to win. This is an opportunity to earn points. We know that Coritiba is a very tough team, but we will try to win with the qualities we use on the field. It's difficult not to have won the last three games, but we have the opportunity to turn this situation around."

On September 20, 2009, Flamengo created a small gallery of works of art. Against Coritiba, in the 25th round of the Brasileirão, the Red-Blacks took a 3-0 lead, and it seemed agreed in the locker room that only a great goal would be worth it. The exhibition began with Petkovic doing what he does best. In the 33rd minute of the first half, the Serbian perfectly curled a free kick from the edge of the box to open the scoring. Early in the second half, Adriano received a spectacular ball from Petkovic and chipped it over the Coritiba goalkeeper, to the delight of the more than 50 Flamengo fans who packed the Maracanã stadium. And to top it off, midfielder Williams hit a rocket from the edge of the box in the 37th minute to score another great goal. A magical night in the campaign for the Hexa. 

The Mais Querido (Flamengo's Favorite) has the advantage in the head-to-head record against this Saturday's rival. Considering only Brazilian Championship matches, there are 40 matches, with 20 Flamengo wins compared to 13 for Coxa. At home, the advantage is even greater: in 21 matches, Flamengo has 13 wins compared to just three for Coritiba. Overall, the Gávea team has won 26 times compared to 18 for the Paraná team, in 55 matches.

The biggest win recorded between Flamengo and Coritiba dates back to January 12, 01, when Rubro-Negro won 1936-7 in Curitiba. 

. In the Brazilian Championship, the biggest victory was in 2008, when Flamengo beat Coritiba 5-0 at Maracanã. 

This won't be the first time Flamengo and Coritiba have faced each other at Ilha do Urubu. In 2005, when the stadium was called Luso Brasileiro, the teams met in the second round of the Brazilian Championship, and Flamengo came out on top, winning the match 2-1 with goals from Renato Abreu and Fellype Gabriel.
