In a game valid for the 27th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo went to Porto Alegre and ended up being beaten by Grêmio by 3 to 2, on Sunday night (22), at Arena do Grêmio. Matheus Gonçalves and Felipe Teresa scored the red-black goals.

It's worth noting that the Mais Querido played with an alternate team, as the main team remained in Rio de Janeiro preparing for the Copa Libertadores. The Rubro-Negro needs to beat Peñarol by two goals next Thursday in Montevideo to advance to the next stage of the continental competition.

The game
Flamengo started the match by taking the initiative to attack. Grêmio, on the other hand, struggled to break out of their own half due to the team's strong marking, which pushed up the lines to force mistakes from the Gaucho team.

In Grêmio's first attempt to attack, the home side opened the scoring in the 11th minute with Cristaldo, who took a shot from outside the area and the ball went into Matheus Cunha's right corner: 1-0.

At a disadvantage, the red-and-black team was undeterred and continued to try their attacking moves. In the 16th minute, Evertton Araújo provided a good pass to Alcaraz, who drove through the middle and took a shot from outside the box. The ball deflected off the defense and went out for a corner.

Mengão had the better of the match, leveling the score in the 24th minute. Alcaraz found a good pass to Matheus Gonçalves on the right, who cut inside and fired a shot into the corner, leaving Marchesín with no chance: 1-1.

And the comeback was nearly complete. Carlinhos received a pass in the defensive half, carried the ball into the opponent's box, beat Dodi, and struck hard. The goalkeeper saved with his leg. In the final stretch of the first half, Flamengo regained control of possession.

In the 39th minute, Matheus Gonçalves received the ball at the edge of the box and took a shot. Marchesín palmed it away. In stoppage time, Alcaraz sent a corner kick to Ayrton Lucas's head, and the goalkeeper made another fine save. In a lively first half, the teams went into the break tied 1-1.

In the second half, Flamengo continued to exchange passes in midfield and control possession. Despite the red-and-black team's good form, Grêmio scored the second goal in the ninth minute through Braithwaite, who pounced on a rebound inside the six-yard box: 2-1.  

Shortly after the ball went out, Carlinhos received a red card for hitting Kannemann offside, leaving the Flamengo team ten men short. Despite being outnumbered, Flamengo continued to attack.

In the 37th minute, Grêmio scored the third through Diego Costa. Monsalve crossed into the box and the center forward headed in to increase the lead: 3-1. Flamengo reduced the deficit in the 44th minute. Evertton Araújo made a great play, passing four defenders and shooting. The goalkeeper made the save, and on the rebound, Felipe Teresa tapped the ball into the net: 3-2. Game over in Porto Alegre.

Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Thursday (26) to face Peñarol, at 19 pm, at the Campéon del Siglo stadium, in Uruguay, for the second leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
