Last weekend, Flamengo secured a victory that confirmed their excellent start to the season. With goals from Guerrero and Éverton, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) defeated Botafogo 2-1, achieving their fifth consecutive win – having won all five official matches played in 2017 so far.

This milestone hadn't been reached since a similar run between February and March 2016. At that time, Flamengo triumphed in four Carioca Championship matches – including one derby – and one Primeira Liga game. However, in the current run, the numbers are even better – the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) scored 15 goals, compared to 12 last year.

With Guerrero scoring five goals in five opportunities – his best career record –; Berrío, Diego, Éverton and Mancuello, with two each; and Trauco and Arão, with one goal each, completing the tally for Flamengo (Flamengo also had an own goal scored by the opponent), Flamengo's average goals per game reached an impressive three.
