The two halves were quite different. Neither team entered the field with the same intensity as in their Copa do Brasil matches. Flamengo and Santos studied each other extensively until the middle of the first half, with few opportunities for either side. The yellow jersey completely dominated the first half, but failed to score due to bad luck with their finishing. Santos didn't even attack. In the second half, however, the scenario was completely different: a frank and open game, with chances for both sides.

First time
Flamengo had the first good chance. Rodinei made a good play on the right and crossed to Guerrero, but the Peruvian couldn't reach the ball. Shortly after, the number 9 left the game with pain in his right thigh and was replaced by Felipe Vizeu.
At 34 minutes, the goal celebration was almost over. Diego took a corner kick, Arão deflected it at the near post, and Juan headed it freely, but the ball went just wide of the post. Four minutes later, a blitz in the Santos area. Diego shot from outside the box, and Vanderlei made the save. On the rebound, Vizeu made a great play and hit the post. The striker managed to get the rebound, dribbled past the defender, but, without an angle, shot straight at Vanderlei. And the first half ended with the score at 0-0.
Second time
The game seemed to be continuing at the same pace as the first half, but in the eighth minute Santos opened the scoring. Bruno Henrique took advantage of a rebound from a Ricardo Oliveira shot and scored the first goal for the São Paulo team.
Santos' lead didn't last long. Two minutes after conceding the goal, Everton Ribeiro received the ball in midfield, controlled it, and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot into the top corner past Vanderlei. A fantastic goal to equalize the match.
The turnaround came in the 22nd minute. Arão delivered a pinpoint pass to Vizeu, who found himself one-on-one with Vanderlei, beat the goalkeeper, and put Flamengo ahead.
But playing at home and taking advantage of the numerical advantage after Rodinei's expulsion in the 28th minute, Santos pressed forward and equalized in the 39th minute with a shot from Alison outside the area. And they took the lead in the 43rd minute with Ricardo Oliveira, giving the final score to the match.
