Val Baiano scored two goals against Avaí. In the following round, Deivid scored twice against Internacional. Following this logic, Diego Maurício still needs to score twice against Vasco. This calculation was part of a question posed to the young striker in his post-training press conference on Thursday. He, in good humor, hopes this math holds true.
Eager to shine in his first Clássico dos Milhões (Classic of Millions) as a professional, Diego can't wait to take the field on Sunday. His anticipation is so high that he says he's even dreamt about this moment.
"I liked that math. Who knows, maybe I'll score two? It's good to score goals because besides helping Flamengo, it also helps me personally," observed the striker, who doesn't hide his desire to leave his mark in the derby.
"This is a very special moment for me. It will be my first derby against Vasco as a professional. This match means a lot. It would be an incredible feeling to score in this game... I keep imagining what it would be like. I've already dreamed about it. I hope to help Flamengo come out victorious," he stated.
Aware that the competition for a spot in the attack is fierce, Diego says he's working his way up to the wings in search of an opportunity.
"I'll be working my way up by the wings. There are many successful players in this group. Many thought I would be the last striker, but I'll be working little by little to earn Vanderlei's trust. If I can, I'll stay at Flamengo my whole life," he concluded.
