After taking ten days off due to the 2018 Russia World Cup, the players of Mais Querido returned to work at the beginning of this week. On the morning of this Thursday (28), Márcio Tannure, Daniel Gonçalves and Diogo Linhares gave a press conference at Ninho do Urubu to give an overview of the activities that are being carried out at the CT.
The head of the club's medical department, Dr. Márcio Tannure, made a point of highlighting the importance of the time the athletes had to rest in recent weeks.
"At Flamengo, our goal is always to evolve and achieve excellence. We are very satisfied with the work done, but not complacent. We consider their return satisfactory, and everyone received instructions for this ten-day break. The time off didn't hinder us at all; it was even good for them to rest and recover, as they were coming off a tough run of games. All athletes are reassessed when they return from a period of inactivity, and based on that, a training plan was developed for them to return well to the championships."
The scientific coordinator, Daniel Gonçalves, also praised the time the team had to recover their energy.
"This off-season is important for the athletes who have played the most. Those who have played the most so far have already accumulated a full year's worth of playing time in the European calendar. Even with this time off, they haven't been inactive. The muscle mass level of some athletes has even increased, and the break has been beneficial for their recovery."
Finally, physical trainer Diogo Linhares explained some of the work being done in the athletes' return for the remainder of the season.
"We are taking advantage of this break to recover the athletes who have played the most minutes and work with those who have played fewer minutes. All the work is being done at the CEP (Performance Evaluation Center) and individually with the players."
