Teammates show support for Marcelo Lomba
The goalkeeper's potential was highlighted by the players and by coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
By From the official website team - inSince taking over as the starting goalkeeper for Flamengo, Marcelo Lomba has experienced many situations: great victories, draws that felt like defeats and victories, losses where he could do nothing to prevent the opposing goals, he saved penalties, made great saves, was criticized for his footwork... But, for the first time, he had a night to forget last Wednesday (November 03.11rd).
The goalkeeper was ultimately unlucky in the plays that led to Ceará's goals in the 2-2 draw at Castelão. But what goalkeeper hasn't had an unlucky match? That's why his teammates are supporting the young Flamengo player, who, according to them, has also saved Flamengo on many occasions.
"Lomba is a great goalkeeper, he's saved us many times, and that happens. We have to be there for him. The team as a whole played a good game, we're disappointed with the draw, even knowing that Ceará is doing very well playing at home, but the way we behaved left us with a feeling of defeat," analyzed midfielder Correa.
Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo took the opportunity to emphasize that, at Flamengo, nobody wins, draws, or loses alone. Everyone is part of the "we team."
"That's football. Sometimes, when you have the flu, you can't speak. I can't crucify the kid or forget the important saves he's already made. He's already helped a lot in achieving positive results. Individual errors exist in football, but you have to play in the first person plural. Marcelo is in the 'we,' in the victories and defeats," he concluded.
