Teammates praise Maldonado's return

Álvaro, Leonardo Moura and coach Andrade believe that the Chilean gives the defense more security

It's not just Maldonado himself who is happy with his return to Flamengo's starting lineup. The Chilean's teammates are also thrilled with the number 13's return to the Flamengo defensive midfield. Defender Álvaro, for example, expressed his gratitude for the defensive midfielder's help in marking.

According to him, with Maldonado on the field, the defense has greater coverage.

"Maldonado gives the defense greater security, he moves well in covering the full-backs. He helps us a lot," praised the sheriff.

One of the players who most needs the coverage provided by defensive midfielders is Leonardo Moura. A highly attacking full-back, he believes Madonado facilitates his attacking runs.

"Maldonado stays more contained and frees me and Juan up to attack more. But it's a tough fight in midfield, thank goodness I'm on the wing," said Leo.

Coach Andrade also approved of the midfielder's good performance against Vasco, celebrating the fact that he had found the ideal lineup for Flamengo.

"Maldonado was returning from a knee injury and we had to wait for him to be 100% fit again to decide on the team's lineup. He had been playing against smaller teams, but I thought he was ready for this derby. I think this team, with Adriano up front [in place of Bruno Mezenga], would be ideal for Flamengo at the moment," he added.
