Confidence in young Diego Maurício

Silas praises the striker, who thanks him for his support and says he sensed a goal against Grêmio Prudente

Forward Diego Maurício had been the last striker in his position to score for Flamengo, having scored in 12 games. It was he who broke that drought last Wednesday (September 15.09th) and paved the way for the red-and-black team's comeback victory over Grêmio Prudente away from home. Not only because of this, but also because of his strong performances in recent matches, he's been highly regarded by the new coaching staff.

Coach Silas praised the striker and expressed confidence in a very positive future for Fla's young center forward.

"Diego Maurício is a promising player, a player we are working with and who can bring a lot of joy to the fans," said the coach.

The striker thanked the coach for his confidence and revealed that he felt before entering the field that he could change the course of the match.

"I was choking on this whole thing about the attack not scoring a goal. I had a feeling the goal would come and that it would be mine. Coach Silas asked me to come in, show my football, show some speed. He has trusted me, put me in from the start against Cruzeiro, and has given me a run. I've been able to show my best form," the striker added.
