Patricia Amorim explains her bet on the winning know-how of the red-black coach

Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo arrived at Flamengo in October, facing an uncomfortable position in the Brasileirão standings. With a resume packed with achievements, both on and off the field, and his expertise in creating and expanding training centers, he was retained as one of the club's key players for 2011.
And if it's up to the board, the coach will have full support to implement his work philosophy throughout the year. Concerned with maintaining a work methodology that values the youth teams and prioritizes the construction of the club's training center, president Patricia Amorim explained, Footecon, this Tuesday (07.12), the reason to bet, yes, on Luxembourg winning.
"I hope Vanderlei can instill in the team the winning spirit he's given to so many other clubs he's worked for. I hope so, and so do all the Flamengo fans. We have a philosophy of building a strong football structure and valuing our youth academy. We have an under-17 team that won the state championship undefeated. Two of these boys are playing for the Brazilian national team. We have two other players on the under-20 team. And Luxemburgo fits perfectly into our work," said Patricia, explaining that she intends to leave a legacy for the club.
"It's a plan. We're looking to reap the rewards in the medium and long term. In the short term, we'll add new signings to our squad, but we won't abandon this methodology," explained the president, unafraid of the fans' immediacy.
"It was a difficult, painful year for us and for the fans. We're certain that next year won't be the same as last year. We know the fans want immediate results; they're more impatient. But we need to emphasize that we are committed to always seeking victory. But sometimes that's not possible. Especially in a year like the one we've had," he recalled.
With a stance of keeping any and all negotiations carried out by Flamengo confidential until a positive outcome, Patricia did not fuel speculation about signings.
"This year we suffered a lot with contracts that ended mid-year. The difficulty of replacing the players we lost was even more difficult. We invested in some players, but they ended up not working out. Due to our marketing plan and the renewal we're investing in, we want a team with an experienced backbone. We need two or three athletes to act as a reference for our young talent," he added.
