Considered by many to be one of Flamengo's greatest attacking weapons since taking over as a starter five years ago, Léo Moura is pleased with the praise, but he's really focused on helping the team, whether attacking or defending. And since he won't be on the field against Vitória on Saturday (September 11.09th) at 18:30 pm at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium in Volta Redonda, he hopes to contribute to the team's mental health.
One of the most experienced members of the group, Léo Moura instills confidence in his teammates and reiterates his confidence in the quality of the red-and-black squad. Furthermore, according to the team captain, everyone shares this sentiment.
"We trust in the quality of the group to react. We don't have much time to correct mistakes in training, since we have games in the middle and on the weekend. Confidence is important. It influences performance on the field. Everyone here thinks big. Everyone knows that Flamengo is a big team. We have experienced and successful players in our squad, and we will overcome the position we are in today," he stated.
Midfield only as a last resort
Considered by many to be one of Flamengo's main attacking weapons since he took over as a starter five seasons ago, Léo Moura explains that he will do whatever the coach dictates, but prefers to remain in his original position.
"We have a lot of qualified players competing for a position in midfield. I want to help Flamengo in the position I've always played. I can play further forward in an emergency or if the coach asks me to, but I prefer to stay in my lane," explained the right-back, praised by his teammate who plays on the left side of the defense.
"It's important for every player to contribute to the team. Everyone has been working hard to get results, and they will come. Léo and I are playing a little more defensively, different from what we're used to, and this shows our quality and commitment. It's always been said that full-backs only attack, but we've also proven our importance defensively," concluded Juan.
