Confident, but without counting on luck and without a defined goal
The red-black squad defined its strategy in the Brasileirão: playing each game as if it were a final

After earning four points out of a possible six in the last two rounds of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo has had a more relaxed time. With the return of goals, the squad's confidence has returned, and this could help the defending champion attempt another run in the competition. But such an achievement is viewed differently than in recent years at Gávea. With no pre-defined goal, each game has become a decisive one.
Concerned with instilling ever-increasing confidence in his players and the strength of the squad, Silas also doesn't care about luck or bad luck. What matters to the red-and-black coach is a job well done.
"The schedule has helped us in the last two rounds, but we have to be aware of the crucial games ahead. We need to help ourselves too. We can't just rely on luck. In the game against Fluminense, if Deivid's shot had gone in in the final moments of the match, we would be better off in the table," said Silas.
Happy to have returned to the team in good shape, Kleberson knows that the better results have improved the players' mood and mindset, which could be very beneficial for the rest of the competition.
"In the last game, the team came out with more confidence, with each player believing more in their teammates. We could have won the derby, but it wasn't to be. The spirit is the same and must be maintained for the rest of the championship. The team clicked. Now we don't have any more players coming into the team to get into rhythm. Everyone is fighting for spots on the team, which increases competitiveness and quality," he said.
But those who are used to the hustle and bustle that used to 'live' in Gávea will have to be introduced to the new way of dealing with good times: feet on the ground.
"I'll only set a goal when the group is flying. We don't have that yet, and for now, we'll take it game by game. We'll keep one eye on the rearview mirror and the other on the group ahead. We want to get in the mix, and when we're there, we'll think about bigger things. I've been in charge of the team for five games. The players need a little more time to understand this rotation that's happening, as well as the way I work. Then, with everything sorted out, it'll be easier," concluded Silas.
