Direct confrontation: Fla-Flu even more attractive

The derby at the Maracanã will have a direct influence on the Brasileirão standings.

With similar positions in the table, but contrasting recent records, Flamengo and Fluminense face each other this Sunday (September 06.09th). At the Maracanã, the ball rolls for the most charming classic in Brazil at 16 pm. Coming off three consecutive victories, Flamengo seeks to solidify its position in the Brasileirão table against Fluminense, which, in turn, has lost its last three matches in the Championship.

Besides the game itself, the event also offers other attractions.. Before the main event of the afternoon, there will be a preliminary match where the veterans teams of Flamengo and Fluminense will face each other. It will be a great chance to see idols from different eras back on the field, such as Adílio, Julio César Uri Geller, and Sávio. There will also be a tribute to the doctor José Luiz Runco, who worked at Flamengo for 35 years.

The Flamengo Nation Program is the third largest source of income for Flamengo. This Sunday (September 06.09th) will be no different. Season ticket holders will get to know the behind-the-scenes of the Maracanã before the match. On MatchDay, participants will visit the press room, the locker room, and the pitch of the legendary stadium. At halftime, there will be a surprise. The winners of the "Shoot at Goal" activity will have the chance to hit the Maracanã goal and compete for prizes. After the game, the three winners of the "The Jersey is Ours" activity will receive the jerseys worn in the match by three players from the squad – directly from the players themselves.

Three club members will act as ball boys/girls for participating in the "Gandula do Nação" (Nation Ball Boy) initiative. There is also an exclusive experience for this Fla-Flu match. Ten club members/girls who participated in the "12th Player" initiative will watch the preliminary match between Masters teams from the Maracanã's reserve bench.

History
In one of Brazil's oldest rivalries, there's no shortage of stories to tell. The Fla-Flu derby has even been the subject of a film. Over the 402 times they've faced each other, Flamengo has won 148 times, while Fluminense has won 128.

The Fla-Flu match that decided the 1963 Campeonato Carioca holds one of the most impressive records in the history of world football. In that game, 194.603 people watched the 1-1 draw that gave the state title to Flamengo – the largest crowd ever for a match between clubs.

In the first match between the teams this year, Flamengo left no doubt and won 3-0. With a great goal from Jonas, one from Alecsandro, and one from the young Matheus Sávio, the Rubro-Negro celebrated Easter. Relive the goals from that match:

Preparation
O Flamengo beat Avaí 3-0 last Wednesday. (02.09) and had little time to work after that. The next day, the cast returned to Rio and had a day off. The players returned to training at the training center on Friday. (04.09), when they did physical and technical work. On the same day, Oswaldo de Oliveira and Paulo Victor wasted no time and They spoke about their expectations for Sunday's classic match. (06.09). In the last activity before the game, on Saturday (05.09), Oswaldo closed the training session to the press and conducted tactical and technical drills.
